M/S Thor Liberty is a 5,392 deadweight-ton cargo ship built in 1994 registered to K/S Habro Kongea 3, according vessel data compiled by Bloomberg and Equasis.org. It departed the German port of Emden on Dec. 6 and was in Kotka on Dec. 11.

An official at Habro Holding ApS offices in Copenhagen referred calls to Thorco Shipping A/S, which manages the ship. Thorco Managing Director Thomas Mikkelsen didn't immediately return messages left at his office and mobile phone.

"I have just read the report and I have no information at the moment," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said today at a daily briefing in Beijing.

Missiles Impounded

The missile containers have been unloaded from the ship and impounded by the Defense Forces, Lounatmaa said. After a preliminary investigation, the prosecutor may take the case to court, he said.

The explosives are in the ship and will be loaded into containers over the next few days, he said. The police are investigating whether they were inappropriately stowed on the ship as preliminary information indicates, Lounatmaa said.

The police and customs officials are questioning the ship's crew and two suspects have been detained, he said.

Cargo documents listed the missiles as fireworks, broadcaster YLE reported yesterday, citing Interior Minister Paeivi Raesaenen.
